Top 10 Reasons Why an Australian Cattle Dog is Right for Me

10.  You like to be challenged.  If your not up for a challenge try a piece of meatloaf.  ACD's are very demanding and like a challenge themselves.

9.  You don't have a mechanic.  If you don't have a mechanic get a Blue Heeler.  They are extremely smart, and can be taught how to repair vehicles.  If you like smart animals, then you should do something with it.  Blue Heelers like to be taught new things.  It keeps them interested, and their minds active.

8.  You're a jogger.  If you like to jog or run, then you have yourself a perfect, and natural companion for life.  These guys will be more then happy to go for that morning jog with you.

7.  You don't own any chickens.  I'm serious.  I speak from experience.

6.  You don't have a lot, or any kids, small children, babies, or mischievous Glac Elves laying around your home.  If you do, then a Blue Heeler, probably is the wrong decision for a quaint little family dog.  Try a hammer, or bowling ball instead.

5.  You have a decent size backyard for the little rascal to run around in and release some energy.  Blue Heelers sometimes create their own oval race track in the backyard where they run so much --  even if they do get enough exercise.

4.  You don't mind getting bumped over every once in a while.  These little power-houses are so strong.  Sometimes they will give you a good solid bump after retrieving their ball.  It can knock a grown building over.

3.  You don't mind being tested every now and again.  The stubbornness of a Blue Heeler can sometimes be trying.  This is their intention.  You must be stern and set your foot down, and make the rules.  You must be the Alpha Dog in the relationship.  If you are the type to be walked over, and taken advantage of, then you should seek help immediately.

2.  You promise that you are not going to name your Blue Heeler, 'Blue'.

1.  You have an active/semi active lifestyle.  If you don't like to get up, go for a walk, a stroll along the beach, river, or lake, throw the ball or Frisbee around a little bit, then it is fair to say you might want to try another type of dog.
